Andre Paskowski (Producer) and Peter Svensson (Director, Editor) together with Sebastian (co Editor) are currently working on a monster project, a movie about some of the best and most diverse riders today; Fanatic Team Riders and World Champions Marcilio Browne, Victor Fernandez and Jose Gollitoâ Estredo.

The two time European champion, Andre, will also appear riding on the movie, although his main focus is production.

People will witness a windsurfing movie with the best wave riding, jumping and freestyle possible today. The Four Dimensions team has already filmed on the legendary Cape Verde Islands and is currently filming on Maui.

The crew will travel the world in the upcoming months to make sure to present one of the best windsurfing movies. Be ready for something new.

What Is It?

Four Dimensions is the video of the moment.

It’s an action movie coming off the back of Samba, 2 for Ten and Mistral’s Committed:Reloaded. The brainchild of Andre Paskowski (PWA freestyle sailor and the movies producer) and Editor / Director Peter Svensson, it’s arguably the most hotly anticipated windsurfing film since The Windsurfing Movie in 2007.

Dedicating a section to each of the four Fanatic / North riders Victor Fernandez, Gollito Estredo, Andre Paskowski and Marcillio Browne, the movie takes in numerous locations including Gran Canaria, Egypt, Maui and Brazil, as one by one the sailors rip at their favoured breaks.

What we liked about it?

The Action. It rocks. It’s also well paced and beautifully shot. In fact, the whole movie is produced, directed and shot beautifully. From the interviews to the full action sequences, the movie highlights the best in windsurfing in a thoughtful way rarely put over in DVDs.

But like we said, what really stands out is the action. The sequences are excellent, with endless aerial footage giving a great angle on some world class locations, and accompanied with talent that is nothing short of spectacular, we are presented with an action movie that is brilliantly watchable.

If you considered The Windsurfing Movie a groundbreaking step forward, then Four Dimensions can without question be said to have moved one step further still. Technically, it’s very dynamic with high production values evident from start to finish. It’s a class product and contains some great edit tricks which, though slightly reminiscent of Aaron Hadlow’s Re:volve, blow you away.

What we didn’t like?

The movie lacks narrative, it works as less of a timeline or a story and more like 4 mini action films. However, we don’t hold that against it. In fact, there is a pretty solid argument that this makes it easier to watch a second, third, fourth and fifth time around. But, if you were expecting a ‘movie’, then be prepared to get something different. It’s also a bit short at only 38 minutes, but the way to remedy this is to explore the extras. There’s a lot there including the previous efforts of Samba, 2 for Ten etc and it’s all pretty good stuff.

Also, and it’s only a minor gripe, but Andre Paskowski’s section is less about him and more an advert for Brazil. But then, funding has to come from somewhere, doesn’t it?

Chick Action vs Bloke Action?

Hunks in trunks, check. Great action, check. That’s both parties happy.

Best Bits?

Victor Fernandez’s Pozo action section sends you straight back to school, it’s like someone shouting ‘THIS IS HOW YOU SAIL!!’ in your face for 3 minutes straight. But equally, Gollito’s action section rocks, it’s like nothing from a windsurfing video. Straight out of a music promo, it’s cheesy, but it’s great and the soundtrack is fierce.

What Is Missing?

If you bought this as an action movie, then not a lot. But if you thought it was a ‘movie’, as some would argue it was billed, then that is where it falls down, and it leaves lacking somewhat.

Extras

All the previous video content, plus a few extended interview clips and most helpfully a tricktionary guide, with all the latest tricks shown in their full High Def glory.

Music

The soundtrack rocks. The track Le Night Dominator is an inspired choice for when Gollito gets styling and along with Band of Horses and Wolfmother provide us with a soundtrack that will no doubt be blasting from a T5 or two on the A30 in months to come.

Overall

A long awaited action movie that pretty much lives up to its hype. If you’re an action junkie who wants to see top class action at world class locations, on a dvd with production values way above average, then you won’t be disappointed with Four Dimensions. In fact, I think I can safely say that you’ll be pretty impressed.
