Tabou
Test Reports: Boardseeker Magazine
"Tabou have really hit the nail on the head with this board.
For blasting, gybing, early planing and fun, you won't find a better
board on the market.
Without question, the Tabou Rocket is the quickest board onto the plane
in the group...what impresses most however, is the ease at which it
manages to get going.
It really is head and shoulders above the
rest when it comes to true ‘ease of planing’...The Rocket lives up to
its name. It really is a quick board, but in keeping with form so far,
it’s the ease at which it goes fast that impresses...the group leader
for intermediate and beginner carve gybers."

“Who makes
the best boards? Credit here to brands that offer great consistency
throughout the range and our safe buys would be: 1st Fanatic” Boards
(UK)
Without a doubt the hardest boards to develop are those
which must combine the most elements to appeal to all riders. Our
philosophy for our bigger freeride line, the Sharks, is not just to
take the easy option of building wide, easy to plane shapes with low
performance ranges. We took a much harder approach and developed
freeride boards which are not extremely wide, or fashionably short, can
be used by intermediates or more experienced sailors and have an
incredible allround performance.
All outlines, scoop rocker
lines as well as the rail shape and the bottom design were carefully
analysed in the computer, then shaped by a CNC machine. The result is a
perfectly balanced shape, with loads of performance and maximum comfort
for sailing. Especially different in feeling is the new re-tuned rocker
line, which is a lot smoother than the previous models, particularly in
choppy water - the Sharks float effortlessly and do not lose any of
their great top end potential, with a free, fast feeling. Optimal
centre and tail widths make the Sharks very easy to jibe and control,
perfect for intermediates learning footsteering and easy planing. The
perfectly smooth rail/deck shape and multiple footstrap options ensure
all freeriders will feel totally at ease and get the maximum
performance out of the Sharks. The International mags loved the combination of performance and ease of use:
Wind Mag, Shark 145: Testers best choice! “…A versatile and outstanding
board, perfect for freeriders looking for accessibility, comfort and
speed!...”
Windsurfing USA, Shark 145: “…Well rounded performance, a safe best for light wind fun!...”

"The Tabou Rocket really hits the nail on the head when
it comes to freeriding. It tops the tables in nearly every
performance category, yet impressively blends all this
performance with being one of the easiest boards to ride.
The
Tabou Rocket has quite rightly established itself as a benchmark
freeride board thanks to a fantastic blend of performance and ease of
use...The easiest board to go fast on. It goes quick without even trying
hard and is really comfortable at the same time...Unbelievable control
at the top end for a board of this size and the best early planing
performance of the group"

What We Liked: The “magic carpet” offered a stable, invigorating ride
for intermediate and advanced testers alike. One tester noted that it
“floated over chop” and another left the water shouting “Tabou --
WOOHOO!” Comfortable, accessible speed for any sailor.
Better Than the Fleet at: All-around performance that’s accessible for sailors of any skill level.
Best Suits: Get-on-and-go sailors who want a fun and friendly ride that doesn’t require tuning and tweaking.
Other Highlights: Ultra-comfy Tabou foot straps, solid molded prepreg fin.

Few
boards have won as many tests and hearts as the Hawks, in only their
second generation in 2007, in fact the shapes were so successful that
we decided to leave all three designs the same for 2008! Blending all
the best features from our Race and Freestyle programmes into one shape
is only possible with Sebastian Wenzel´s CAD programme and database.
The result is 3 new Freecarve shapes which are narrower and faster than
most free move boards, for the ultimate fun sailing! The new Hawks
feature performance and comfort of the highest level. Extremely early
planing and acceleration, a blistering top end speed and unmatched
manoeuvrability!
Sebastian Wenzel explains: “The Hawks
are fully CAD designed, analysed and shaped on the CNC shaping machine.
We re-tuned the already super fast Hawk rocker, the harmonic and
carefully analysed curves of the outline support the overall
performance, with enough area to provide early planing, with minimal
drag for top speed. The new fuller rail with a lot of tucked under edge
prevents the Hawks from catching the rail in both normal jibes and
during sliding Freestyle moves. The domed deck in the tail/footstrap
area provides a secure and comfortable stance.“

Boardseeker Magazine
Test Winner - Aug. 20, 2010
Tabou Test Reports: Windsurfing Magazine What We Liked: The “magic carpet” offered a stable, invigorating ride
for intermediate and advanced testers alike.

Tabou Test Reports: Windsurfing Magazine Rocket 105
What We Liked: “A speed
stick on steroids!”, “Fun to run”, “Smoking fast!” –all exact words
that came out of the test team’s mouths. The Rocket’s ready to blast no
matter who’s at the helm – light or heavyweight, intermediate or
expert. It didn’t disappoint in the jibes, either. Better Than the Fleet at: Getting our freestyle-crazy expert to want to own a slalom stick! Best Suits: Any sailor that’s looking for a speeding thrill. Other Highlights: At 13.1 lbs, it’s the lightest board in the entire test by over a pound.
